The University of the Arts London

Cobal completed the statutory, wayfinding and internal branding signage for the University of the Arts? new premises at King?s Cross in London.

The university is an amalgamation of six distinguished London-based art and design colleges, including the world-renowned Central St Martin?s College of Art and Design, whose alumni include Lucian Freud and Stella McCartney. Architects Pringle Brandon and fit-out contractors Overbury redeveloped a Grade II-listed granary building, originally designed in 1851 by Lewis Cubitt, the architect for King?s Cross Station, along with assembly and transit sheds to create new studio buildings.

Not surprisingly, the customer wanted to be involved in the look of the signage and Cobal worked very closely with a team from the university, including a leading font expert, to create the individualistic style of the signage.
