Door Signs

As with almost any architectural signage, the first questions to be considered with door or room signage are:

  • how flexible does it need to be?
  • what is the likely rate of change to the information?

Answering these questions will largely determine the design and type of materials to be used.

Office, door and meeting room signs

Signs which contain a person?s name will need a facility which allows for very easy change. With most organisations moving away from cellular offices, however, the role of the door or room sign now is confined to convey the function of the room, so the information on the sign is relatively static.

A notable exception, however, concerns Meeting Room signs, which typically will contain two elements. The first will be permanent information, such as the room name or number. The second, an element of ever changing data, such as the times and users of the room if a booking system is used. The past few years have seen the rapid development of electronic booking systems.

The other important aspect to consider when planning a system that incorporates door signs concerns the user.

Do you need to be using tactile and Braille text to conform to DDA?

Cobal Signs? experience in posing these questions and meeting the challenges of the answers has enabled us to develop a wide range of signage solutions to these issues.
