Environmental Policy

At Cobal Signs, we are committed to sustainability both within our office and production facilities as well as at every stage of our product life from initial design to recycling. These are personally overseen by our Managing Director, Philip Ball.

Our products are designed to be robust and durable without compromising on aesthetic quality. Ensuring that our products maximise their lifecycle minimises the impact on the environment and helps to reduce the demand on landfill. This impact is reduced still further in that well over 95% of the materials that we use are both recycled and recyclable.

Our choice of materials is governed by the principles of ?sustainable development? which can be defined as meeting the needs of the present, without compromising the abilities of future generations to meet their own needs.

Of course, technology ensures that the situation is completely dynamic. For example, whilst LED illumination is more expensive at the outset, it saves on energy costs, requires less maintenance, has a reduced carbon footprint and is more easily disposed of than traditional fluorescent tubes.

As an organisation, our environmental policy is:

  • Review and improve the environmental impact of materials used in our products and processes

  • Minimise pollution produced in all parts of our business, and aim for pollution-free processes

  • Minimise waste by following the priority order of reduce, re-use, recycle, incinerate and landfill

  • Implement technologies that use energy resources efficiently

  • Use company resources to promote environmental knowledge and awareness to those involved in our business, including employees, customers and our supply chain

  • Adopt an environmentally sound transport policy, for example, use public transport wherever possible

  • Assist our clients, their advisors and contractors to use our products and services in an environmentally sensitive way

  • Expect similar environmental standards to our own from all third parties involved with our business ? suppliers, vendors and contractors

An example of the above policy can be found in our pin boards and workstation accessories. One of the materials used is Marmoleum Bulletin Board that is produced from renewable raw materials. The combination of oxidised linseed oil, resin, cork and pigments in the product give it flexibility and resilience. These qualities result in a product with exceptional durability. What?s more, some of these components have been growing whilst you have been reading this.
